So What Da Heck is a Shen Chi Number and Why Should I Care?
"Feng Shui" as I may have mentioned once or twice in other ARTicles, in Chinese literally means Wind and Water and is the Chinese art of creating positive energy or Qi(Chi) flow. The ancient Chinese believe that some environments are better than others and they call the study of determining this Feng Shui. Feng Shui can be considered a kind of astrological environmentalism with a lot of common sense thrown in for good measure. The primary goal of Feng Shui is increasing harmony with nature. ...Read the rest of this entry »
Find An Enemy
To consolidate and increase failing political power, the first
step is to find an enemy. Demonize this enemy in every way
possible. Label it unpatriotic to question the evil of this
enemy. Then rally around the flag and kick some serious butt.
Sound familiar? It certainly should! Subsequent to the horrors
of 9/11, those very tactics took a president with a 49% approval
rating ' the danger point for any smart politician with an eye
on history ' and launched him to the highest approval ratings ...Read the rest of this entry »
Tips on Creating Homemade Solar Cells
Fossil fuels nowadays are quickly being used up. In the event that they will become extinct, the only energy that may take its place is solar energy. In fact, some people have started to build homemade solar cells and have even begun using them to provide electricity and heat, not only in their homes, but also in some workplace, establishments, etc.
Solar energy is more abundant than other types of energy. It is also renewable so there may not be reasons as to why it will run out. This kind ...Read the rest of this entry »
Properties of the Windows Recycle Bin
The properties of the Windows Recycle Bin might not concern you
as much if you have a very large hard drive. Hard drives with
very large storage capacity are becoming more affordable.
However, many people still use relatively small hard drives with
limited storage space and this information could be very
beneficial for them. I would even venture to say that it truly
does not matter how much space you have on your hard drive, the
Recycle Bin will come into play at one time or another.

Do You Really Know Your Prospect?
I'd like to introduce you to someone. I don't actually know his
name, but I'm hoping you do. I'm hoping you know quite a bit
about him.
He's your target customer ' the person most likely to buy what
you have to offer. He is the person responsible for your
paycheck. He pays your rent and feeds your kids. Or at least, he
will, once you convince him to buy from you.
But to convince him, you have to know him. Intimately.
I know, I know ' this is elementary stuff. Marketing 101. But
you'd be amazed ...Read the rest of this entry »
What Is Compost And Why Does My Garden Need It?
Some people think compost is a just a bunch of manure. Others
think it's what happens to your body when you die and get
buried, "My uncle Joe died last year and his body has been
de-compostin' ever since." Compost is defined in the dictionary
as "a mixture of decaying organic matter, as from leaves and
manure, used to improve soil structure and provide nutrients."
That's a great definition but it really doesn't tell the whole
story. It should say, "Compost is the greatest thing ever!!!"
Well ...Read the rest of this entry »

have been successfully covering vehicles for several generations

The Emerging Water Wars - Part I
Growing up in Israel in the 1960's, we were always urged to
conserve precious water. Rainfall was rare and meager, the sun
scorching, our only sweet water lake under constant threat by
the Syrians. Israelis were being shot at hauling water cisterns
or irrigating their parched fields. Water was a matter of life
and death - literally.
Drought often conspires with man-made disasters. Macedonia
experienced its second worst dry spell during the civil strife
of last year. Benighted Afghanistan is ...Read the rest of this entry »

Recycle Your Work
Recycling your work is a lot like doing your part to recycle
cans and old milk cartons: a simple concept that not enough
people do. Many folks don't realize how easy it is to turn an
existing piece of material into new moneymaking products. I made
an audio album by reading from the humor section of my 'Wake 'Em
Up' book that had already been long completed. The six tapes/CDs
were not exactly word for word because I was speaking live and
adlibbing wisecracks whenever I felt like it. Even though ...Read the rest of this entry »

Air Pollution
THE EFFECTS OF AIR POLLUTION Studies have shown that adults in
the nation's most polluted cities - even cities that meet EPA
air quality standards - are 15% to 17% more likely to die
prematurely than those in cities with the cleanest air (Source:
Dockery, et al., Harvard School of Public Health, 1995).
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS? It is recognized that because of their
physiology, children are at greater risk than adults are from
both short- and long-term illness from breathing noxious air.

5 Star homes to be Mandatory in Australia
The Building Code of Australia seems set to introduce 5-star
energy ratings for all new homes. While some associations in the
building industry are concerned that this is likely to push the
cost of building up, it is s step in the right direction for
energy efficient housing.
The move is in line with the Australian Greenhouse Office's
objective to minimise greenhouse gas emissions.
Until recently many homes in Australia have needed to meet a
level of 4-star energy efficiency as a minimum. ...Read the rest of this entry »

How is Tap Water Tested for Contamination?
Have you ever sat and wondered exactly how is tap water tested for contamination? What you really should be worried about is not how it is being tested, but who is conducting these tests and if your drinking water is actually being tested at all. Then there is the question of if the water is being tested how accurate the reported results are.I say that because there have been numerous reports over the last few years of fraudulent reporting by the staff of the water treatment facilities. ...Read the rest of this entry »
The Ecology of Environmentalism
The concept of "nature" is a romantic invention. It was spun by
the likes of Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the 18th century as a
confabulated utopian contrast to the dystopia of urbanization
and materialism. The traces of this dewy-eyed conception of the
"savage" and his unmolested, unadulterated surroundings can be
found in the more malignant forms of fundamentalist
environmentalism.
At the other extreme are religious literalists who regard Man as
the crown of creation with complete dominion over ...Read the rest of this entry »

Design Engineers in the ETO Environment
According to Roger Meloy of ETO ERP leader Encompix, based in
Cincinnati, OH, 'If you ask design engineers what an ERP system
means to them, you are likely to hear something like 'nothing'
or 'more work.' To most design engineers, an ERP system is
either irrelevant or it is perceived as something that requires
additional time and effort, often providing little or no value.
One reason for this perception is that most ERP systems are not
integrated with the design engineer's drawing ...Read the rest of this entry »
Generator comparitive field study
Generators are essential for fieldwork done by consultants often
exposed to remote areas where electricity is not available.
A Goscor Engines customer recently did an intensive study to
establish which generators are suitable for use with sensitive
equipment such as the Cedip product range where spike and dips
in power supply are very unhealthy for the equipment used.
Prior to doing the comparative study the customer, working in
the field as a logistics consultant, used battery supplies ...Read the rest of this entry »
Cold weather and your air tools
When the outdoor temperature dips below 40 degrees Fahrenheit
over night, it is time to change to a winter weight oil for your
compression pump, engine, and your air tools. This will solve
most of the cold weather problems we see. When the outside
ambient temperature is below the 40 degree point your air
compressor will be hard to start. An easy fix to this problem is
to just warm up the air compressor, air lines and air impact
wrench before you start it. Also, remember to change to ...Read the rest of this entry »
Eco and Organic Schools
To reduce climate change we need both adults and children to become greener and to think more about the environment. The question is how do we engage children and pull them away from the TV and Play station and promote a sense of citizenship and environmental responsibility in them?
Companies often have environmental policies where they recycle waster paper, ink cartridges and have energy saving stickers at the switches to remind people to switch off the lights. Companies are also ...Read the rest of this entry »

Youth for Human Rights 2009 World Fosters Peace and Hope
As a young girl growing up in apartheid South Africa I saw firsthand the devastating effects of discrimination and the lack of the most basic human rights. Traveling abroad I realized that discrimination and slave-like conditions could be found far beyond the borders of my country. Children who do not know that they have human rights are vulnerable. As an educator I knew that teaching learners about human rights would be the first step for them to defend and protect not only their rights but ...Read the rest of this entry »
